Jared Goff & Kyler Murray On Opposite Ends Of Same Game In Week 8

Other than April Ludgate & Andy Dwyer, I've never really subscribed to the "opposites attract" theory. 

But I'm changing my stance this week, because it is going to be difficult to ignore the fireworks between DET & MIN. Even Matthew Berry's Love/Hate list is littered with players from both teams, albeit for different reasons.

Because these defenses are complete opposites, they're attracting very different emotions:

  • Jared Goff - HATE (Berry's QB14)
  • Jameson Williams - HATE (Berry's WR26)
  • TJ Hockenson - LOVE (Berry's TE7)
  • Kyler Murray - LOVE (Berry's QB11)

Notice a pattern?

Berry loves MIN and hates DET. Because these two defenses are the bookends of the NFL in almost every single defensive stat.

  • The Lions are allowing the most FPPG to opposing QBs.
  • The Vikings are allowing the fewest FPPG to opposing QBs.
  • The Lions are allowing the most receptions per game to WRs.
  • The Vikings are allowing the seventh fewest receptions per game to WRs.
  • The Lions are allowing the third most receiving yards per game to WRs.
  • The Vikings are allowing the fifth fewest receiving yards per game to WRs.
  • The Lions are allowing the most FPPG, the most receptions, the most yards and the most TDs to the TE position.
  • You get it … 

While there are lots of players to love and hate this week, this is the matchup I find myself gravitating toward. 

Can Detroit's offense break Minnesota? And will Detroit's defense make Kyler Murray cool again?
